We support
Danish Hospital Clowns in 2026

At Megatrade, we spend most of our time on industrial components, global suppliers
and day-to-day logistics. That is what we do best, and that is what our customers come to us for.

But we have also chosen to devote some of our energy to something quite different.

In 2026, Megatrade is a proud sponsor of Danish Hospital Clowns — an organization that since 2003 has deployed trained hospital clowns to Danish hospitals, psychiatric wards, and specialized institutions to visit sick and vulnerable children and young people.

What does a hospital clown actually do?

It is a fair question. A hospital clown is not entertainment in the traditional sense. These are trained professionals who know how to meet a child who is afraid — and who understand that humor and human connection can open doors that medicine cannot. As nurse and PhD Helle Nygård Kristensen explains: the hospital clown captures the child’s attention by doing something funny or magical — and once that initial connection is made, it becomes possible to open up a more serious conversation about the pain or treatment the child fears. This is not hocus-pocus. It is documented.

The numbers speak for themselves

Each year, around 73,000 children and young people are hospitalized in Denmark. For many of them — and their families — it is an experience that leaves a lasting impact. Danish Hospital Clowns has 82 trained clowns, each with a 1.5-year foundational education and ongoing professional development. In 2025, they carried out more than 8,000 clown visits, reaching approximately 50,000 sick and vulnerable children and young people. They are present at 17 hospitals across 84 somatic departments, 14 child and adolescent psychiatric units, as well as special schools, respite care institutions, and the country’s two children’s hospices. This is substantial work. And it requires support from companies that choose to contribute.

Why we support

We are a B2B company with 50 years of experience. We are not used to promoting ourselves, and we do not enter sponsorships for visibility. We support Danish Hospital Clowns because it matters. Because we have the capacity to contribute. And because we believe it is the right thing to do when you have the opportunity. We are 20 colleagues — and behind them are families. Children. We all know that a hospital stay can turn everyday life upside down. If we can help make that experience just a little easier for a child and their family, it is worth prioritizing.
